Use a Holster!

This guy carried a Glock 36 in his pocket without a holster (stupid), he went into a restaurant that was posted "no firearms" (trespassing), and he ordered alcohol (illegal while carrying concealed in a restaurant that serves alcohol). When he reached in his pocket the gun went off and he shot himself. You should always use a holster that covers the trigger.

Thune Amendment Fails

I did not expect it to pass, but I am pleased that Virginia Senators Warner and Webb were supporters.

Negligent Discharge at the Salem Gunshow

I was at the Salem gun show at the civic center on Saturday. I was in the back room (where the guy that sells re-loading supplies and Bailey's tables are usually located) when I heard a loud noise. It did not really sound like a gun shot, but later I learned it was a negligent discharge from a .308 rifle.

Fortunately, the rifle was pointed down and the shot went into the concrete floor. The paper says someone was injured by fragments from the floor, but I was not close enough to see it. Later, I did see the hole in the floor, and I saw an older guy packing up his stuff and policemen talking to him. He was at the second table on the first row by the bleachers as you came in the main hall. I don't know if it was him, but whoever it was I honestly felt sorry for them. However, it was their fault and someone could have been seriously hurt, and we certainly don't need more reasons for people to hate gun shows in Virginia.

Always, always, always follow the four gun safety rules:
  1. All guns are always loaded. Always treat them that way.
  2. Never let the muzzle cover something you don't want to destroy.
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
  4. Always be sure of your target and what is behind it.

Thank you Col Jeff Cooper.

Policeman Kills Miniature Dachshund

This makes me very angry. I cannot believe the policeman's actions were justified.

This is my first post. I've never tried a blog before, so this could be fun. For me, not for you.
